A GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar) survey uses electromagnetic pulses fired into the ground to locate buried utilities, rebar, voids, and other subsurface features without excavation or drilling. The radar unit is pushed across the surface and the reflected signals are processed into a map showing the depth and position of detected features.
Detection depth depends on soil type. In sandy or volcanic soils we typically achieve 3-8 meters of penetration, while wet clay heavily attenuates the signal and may limit depth to 1-2 meters. Where deeper targets are expected, we deploy lower-frequency antennas and combine GPR with electromagnetic locators.
